More than 700,000 people make new claims for Incapacity Benefit in Britain every year. Almost all believe they will return to work. Yet after 12 months on benefit, less then 1 in 4 will actually do so.
GRACE Productions has made two films charting the work of the Condition Management Programme - which attempts to bridge the gap between sickness and health in the workplace. CMP is a unique partnership between the National Health Service and Jobcentre Plus. Its aim is simple: to give people on long-term sick benefit, fresh hope and new opportunities of regaining self-respect and confidence in the work place.
Our film on the Somerset CMP, featuring "FixYou" by Coldplay, was widely praised at a national health care conference in Leeds. GRACE's team has just completed a film on the work of Bridgend, Rhondda Cynon Taff CMP in south Wales.
