St Margaret's Somerset Hospice - Making Each Day Count
GRACE have completed a new palliative care training DVD, just launched at a national conference in London. The documentary-style film, ‘Making Each Day Count’, is introduced and narrated by Esther Rantzen. It was commissioned by St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice, with sponsorship from Macmillan Cancer Support.
The film follows the stories of 3 families and their widely differing experiences as loved ones approach the end of their lives – and how health professionals respond to their emotional, physical and medical needs. Using first-hand testimony and stylised “dramatic reconstruction”, the DVD is intended as a teaching tool for health and social care professionals working in, or learning about, palliative care, across the country.
GRACE’s managing director Ray Tostevin said “When we were first approached by St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice, we were given a challenging brief: to make a film about care for the dying that was both realistic, but ultimately positive.
St Margaret’s director of fundraising & communications, Pam Knight added: “We looked to GRACE Productions to bring their award-winning documentary skills to making a powerful and engaging film – aimed at all health professionals working in palliative care.”
“We are absolutely delighted with the results. GRACE’s team have combined sensitivity and professionalism to produce a very powerful DVD training tool.”
